2020 BMW X2 Review, Pricing, And Specs

We managed only 29 mpg in the all-wheel-drive X1 and the XC40 T5. With front-wheel drive, the 2019 X2 returns 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the class. The standard X2 sDrive28i has front-wheel drive, while the xDrive28i and the M35i models come with all-wheel drive. The X2 shares its standard powertrain with the boxier X1, which consists of a 228-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. It has a 302-horsepower variant of the base engine and standard all-wheel drive. The base engine makes 228 horsepower, which is good enough for a 6.3-second sprint up to 60 mph. We want to know if there's enough room for our families and our weekend gear and whether or not our favorite drink fits in the cupholder. Tack on enough options, and the M35i balloons over $50,000. Edmunds has deep data on over 6 million new, used, and certified pre-owned vehicles, including rich, trim-level features and specs information like: MSRP, average price paid, warranty information (basic, drivetrain, and maintenance), features (upholstery, bluetooth, navigation, heated seating, cooled seating, cruise control, parking assistance, keyless ignition, satellite radio, folding rears seats ,run flat tires, wheel type, tire size, wheel tire, sunroof, etc.), vehicle specifications (engine cylinder count, drivetrain, engine power, engine torque, engine displacement, transmission), fuel economy (city, highway, combined, fuel capacity, range), vehicle dimensions (length, width, seating capacity, cargo space), car safety, true cost to own.

In our testing, though, the X2 proved to be one of the most efficient crossovers, with a 36-mpg result over our 200-mile highway fuel-economy route. The X2 is in line with its more stylishly shaped rivals, though, and nearly matched the GLA250 in this test. In addition to its extra power and its M-tuned suspension, brakes and steering, you get a transformed exterior look with the M35i, as BMW paints most of the black plastic molding in body color and adds more aggressive aerodynamic elements. Upgrading to the Premium package adds a head-up display. Upgrading to leather upholstery also gets you special M Sport front seats, all for $1,950. The standard trim features cloth seats, a 6.5-inch iDrive 6.0 screen, and 17-inch wheels, while M Sport and M Sport X models have 19-inch wheels and include dynamic damper control and a 10 mm (0.4 in) lower sports suspension. The X2 launched as a 2019 model and, this being only its sophomore year, BMW hasn't changed much for 2020. Last year's standard 6.5-inch infotainment display has been ditched in favor of the formerly optional 8.8-inch unit; navigation is now also standard across the X2 lineup.

They come standard with the same 228-horsepower turbocharged engine, but the X2 has a more potent 302-horsepower option. That's a rare practice for the industry, as most brands either include CarPlay as standard equipment or offer it as an unlimited-use option for a one-time cost. The 2020 BMW X2 comes standard with front collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and automatic highbeams. An 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation is standard and runs BMW's intuitive and attractive iDrive software interface, which can also be controlled by a center-console-mounted rotary knob. Which Is Better: BMW X2 or Volvo XC40? The XC40 offers better second-row accommodations than the X2, and it has one of the nicest interiors in the class. That's not a knock against the X1, which boasts better performance overall. This model also includes performance upgrades like paddle shifters, launch control, an M Sport exhaust, an M Sport differential, and M Sport steering, suspension, and brakes. The xDrive28i M Sport X line starts at $43,050.

All feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. This M-branded X2 also comes with paddle shifters, launch control, and shortened transmission gearing. The X2 hits the mark when it comes to handling. The 2019 BMW X2 comes in three trim levels. Nearly all materials are high end, and the interior design benefits from fancy trim pieces like wood and metal. Edmunds also provides tools to allow shopper to compare vehicles to similar models of their choosing by warranty, interior features, exterior features, specifications, fuel economy, vehicle dimensions, consumer rating, edmunds rating, and color. While the X2's interior design isn't as expressive as its exterior, the cabin is nicely outfitted and well-built. The introduction of a new M35i trim is the major change for 2019. While not a full-fledged M version, this performance-focused variant will appeal to those who want more out of an X2. The fire-breathing M35i model is what sets the X2 apart from the workaday X1, and it provided blistering acceleration during our testing.
