Here's A First Look At The Brutal 600-HP BMW X6 M

The new BMW X6 M is expected to pack the new M5's twin-turbo V8.

After spy shots emerged of the new next-generation BMW X6, it was only a matter of time before the coupe-style SUV received the M Performance treatment. Fast forward a few months and we now have the first spy photos of the X6 M in prototype form being benchmarked against its predecessor.

While it's covered in a full body wrap, it’s already clear that the new X6 M will look decidedly less ugly than its predecessor, featuring a sleek coupe-style roofline and a larger kidney grille akin to newer BMW models, which doesn’t look out of place on a large SUV like the X6.

There are, of course, a few key differences that make the new X6 M look more aggressive than its standard sibling. At the front, the bumper incorporates some massive air intakes while flared wheel arches give the SUV a muscular appearance. There are also air vents located behind the front wheels and a signature M-specific quad exhaust system at the back.

Like its predecessor, the BMW M body kit adds new bumpers, side skirts, side mirrors, and a subtle roof spoiler, which is also joined by an integrated boot lid spoiler. Both the new X6 and X6 M are expected to be powered by the M5’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8. In the M5 Competition, the engine produces 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, so we’re expecting the X6 M to deliver a similar level of power. BMW has also hinted M SUVs could get the Competition Package treatment in the future.

The X6 M isn’t the only new performance SUV BMW has in the pipeline either, as the X3 M and X4 M are expected to break cover soon, possibly at the 2018 LA Auto Show in November. Given that the standard X6 is slated to go on sale in 2019, the M version probably won’t arrive until 2020.

This Is The Brutal M3 Wagon We Wish BMW Would Build

It’s more powerful than the M3 Competition Package.

For reasons unknown to us, BMW refuses to build a wagon version of the M3 despite offering the 3 Series Sports Wagon. Sure, there was the E46 M3 Touring, but that was a one-off that never entered mass production. In the US, the 330i XDrive is available with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine developing 248 hp and 258 lb-ft, as well as a 180 hp, 280 lb-ft diesel variant. In Europe, there’s also a range-topping 340i, but that clearly wasn’t enough for this owner who has effectively created the full fat M3 wagon BMW refuses to build.

The project started life as an unassuming diesel-powered 3 Series Touring but now it packs an M3 S55 engine under the hood. The owner also fitted a stage two tuning kit extracting 530 horses from the biturbo inline-six 3.0-liter engine, making it significantly more powerful than the standard M3. It’s even more powerful than the M3 Competition Package and the 460-hp M3 CS Limited Edition.

In addition, the owner fitted the super wagon with the M4 GTS’ hood and steering wheel, along with an M Performance exhaust and the M3’s Competition package. You can see the wild wagon in action in a video recorded at the 2018 Bimmerfest in the Netherlands. It looks and sounds sublime and makes us wish BMW would make an official M3 wagon. We’ll have to wait and see what the next-generation M3 lineup brings. Until then, this probably won't be the last custom-built BMW M3 wagon we'll see.

This Brutal Bentley Continental GT3-R Is One Of Only 300

Unusually, this rare limited-edition model has depreciated in value, making it a seriously good bargain for collectors.

Unlike other luxury automakers like, say, Rolls-Royce, Bentley has a rich racing heritage. And sometimes it applies its racing pedigree to its luxury cars to make them a little more savage. Take this brutal Bentley Continental GT3-R, for example. Only 300 examples rolled off the production line, each powered by a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 that develops 572 horsepower and 518 lb-ft of torque. Weighing in at 4,937 pounds, it isn’t exactly light, but this hasn’t affected the performance as much as you would expect.

Zero to 62 mph takes a respectable 3.6 seconds before the coupe reaches a top speed of 170 mph, making it one of the fastest Bentleys ever made. Bentley also added carbon fiber components, bespoke green decals, and more aggressive styling akin to its GT3 race car to differentiate it from the standard Continental. And now one of them is up for sale, courtesy of Motor GT. Out of the 300 that were produced, only 99 examples were sent to the US, making this racing-inspired grand-tourer even rarer. It’s also a relative bargain considering its exclusivity and pristine condition, having only been driven 9,769 miles since it was produced in 2015.

Originally, a Bentley Continental GT3-R would have set you back $339,000, but the dealer is asking for $215,000, making this a rare example of a limited-edition model that’s depreciated in value over time. In three years, it’s already depreciated by $124,000. Originally, the Continental GT3-R also included a matching Bell Racing GT3 helmet and Breitling GT3 watch. The watch is worth $16,000 alone, but the listing doesn’t state whether it’s part of the deal. Either way, this is a rare opportunity to own one of the most powerful, and hard-to-find luxury grand-tourers ever built.
