E82 and E88 - Rattle Noise from Exhaust
MODEL
128i Coupe and Convertible; E82, E88 with N51 and N52K engines from 11/09 production
SITUATION
The customer may complain about rattling noises coming from the rear muffler during engine idling.
CAUSE
Vibration in the rear muffler and the exhaust flap linkage caused by elimination of the vibration damper
The rear muffler vibration damper has been eliminated from the E82 and E88 N51/N52K Series production since 11/01/2009.

CORRECTION
Retrofit the vibration damper (P/N 18 30 3 413 587) with the collar bolt M8x70 (P/N 18 40 7 540 023).
