Wheelsandmore Debuts Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible

Early in 2010, Wheelsandmore launched their performance upgrades for the Bentley Continental Supersports. And just about one year later, the German tuner has now developed a tuning package for the convertible version. Before any tuning, the Continental Supersports convertible was already the most powerful and fastest four-seat convertible on the market. It's also the fastest ever built.

And now, Wheelsandmore has taken a crack at improving its already blistering performance. They started off by performing an ECU, stainless steel exhaust, and special sport catalysts upgrade. This resulted in an increase of power, now up to 702 hp (originally 630 hp) and 880 lb-ft of torque. The tuner also added three-piece, C-Sport wheels that be customized to any color and surface buyers prefer. Lastly, the suspension upgrade allows for it to be switched up and down by using an electronic lowering module called "LowMaXX."

This device allows the car to lift about 0.79 inches automatically at 44 mph, allowing the Bentley to recover comfort and safety. Pricing for the upgrade package was not announced.

Rare Bentley Continental 24 Transformed Into 754-HP Beast

But should tuners be modifying rare limited-edition models?

To celebrate its return to the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring race last year, Bentley launched a special ‘24’ edition of the Continental GT. As you’ve probably guessed, production was limited to just 24 examples, so it’s exceedingly rare. Based on the second-generation Continental GT, the limited-edition grand tourer features a striking two-tone exterior with a matching interior, while a twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 pumps out 700 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque. 0-62 mph takes just 3.5 seconds before the Continental 24 tops out at 209 mph.

One tuner, however, has made the limited-edition grand-tourer even more special. German company Wheelsandmore has given the Bentley Continental 24 a 54-horsepower upgrade by revising the ECU and using pre-muffler replacement pipes and a flap exhaust with remote control. As a result, the British grand-tourer now produces a whopping 754 horsepower, making it more powerful than the mighty McLaren 720S. As well as extracting more power from the 6.0-liter W12 engine, Wheelsandmore has given the Continental 24 a murdered-out makeover. The exterior is finished in a black shade with contrasting red ‘Continental 24’ decals adorning the side of the luxury car.

The tuner has also fitted air suspension, which can be electronically lowered and raised from inside the car. It's been designed to work with the new wheels and tires replacing the original’s color-painted wheels. Completing the package is a set of 10.5×21-inch wheels wrapped in 275/35 Pirelli high-performance tires. Alternatively, customers can also opt for a 10.5×22-inch set with 285/30 Continental tires. Whether tuners should be allowed to modify rare limited-edition cars is up for debate, but in this case we think it’s an improvement over the original car. The Continental 24’s brash exterior was an acquired taste, but the German tuner's take is much more appealing in our eyes. There’s no word on price, but the Continental 24 retailed for $280,000.

The 2018 Bentley Continental GT Will Have Some Radical Changes

But that W12 engine remains.

We’ve long known the Bentley Continental GT is undergoing a complete redesign, and will debut this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We also know it’ll be built on the same (and lighter) platform as the also new Porsche Panamera. But according to Autocar, we should also plan for what’ll essentially be a completely re-engineered vehicle packed with tons of technology. For starters, this new platform allows for both all- and rear-wheel-drive, something the current VW Phaeton-based platform didn’t provide.

Rear wheel steering and a new air suspension, like those on the Panamera, will also be carried over to the Bentley. Finally ditching the current Continental GT’s aging platform, its successor will once again be offered as both a hardtop coupe and convertible, but more importantly, it’ll be Bentley’s "most advanced model to date." A Bentley official told Autocar that it’s "second to none in terms of engineering. We have been careful to safeguard the traditional qualities built up over the years while adding features that extend its capability to a whole new level." For example, the new GT will offer several powertrain options, such as a gasoline-electric hybrid that also allows for zero-emissions driving.

The twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 will not only return, but it’ll be upgraded with new tech in order to meet the latest emissions standards regulations. Other new technologies will include driver assistance systems, such as autonomous driving capability. Exterior styling is said to be influenced by the Speed 6 Coupe Concept that debuted in 2015 at Geneva. The interior, obviously, will have the finest materials and fit and finish Bentley offers. We’ll probably receive additional 2018 Continental GT updates throughout the summer before the early fall debut.

Bentley Continental GTC And New Flying Spur Caught Testing Together

Along with a Mercedes S-Class and Mercedes-Maybach.

Last September, the completely redesigned Bentley Continental GT debuted at Frankfurt. Next month at Geneva, the topless variant, the Continental GTC, will have its turn in the spotlight. Our spy photographers have just snapped pictures of the new Continental GTC out doing some final winter testing with hardly any camouflage. This makes sense considering we already know what its coupe counterpart looks like, so imaging it topless really isn’t all that hard.

At the same time, the next-generation Flying Spur was also along for the ride. Unlike the GTC, however, it had a couple of competitor benchmarks trekking along, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the Mercedes-Maybach. The Flying Spur is, more or less, the sedan version of the Continental, so it does make some sense for the GTC to be present as well. Having both the S-Class and the uber luxury Maybach also there are crystal clear indicators regarding Bentley’s intentions with its upcoming new sedan. We believe we can accurately predict that it’ll share the Continental’s 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine and eight-speed ZF transmission combo.

In the big coupe, this engine produces a mighty 626 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, with power being sent to all four wheels. When will the new Flying Spur arrive? We’re not expecting that to happen next month, but Paris the following September is a very real possibility. Remember, Bentley is part of the Volkswagen Group, so setting its sights on two of Daimler's finest and most luxurious big sedans is a must.

All-New 2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Breaks Cover

Bentley's brand-new topless Continental GT is here, combining open-top driving thrills with supreme opulence.

It was back in September 2017 when Bentley presented the all-new third-generation Continental GT at the Frankfurt Auto Show, setting a new pinnacle for luxury grand tourers. Now, just over one year later, the covers have come off its convertible counterpart, combining open-top driving thrills with supreme opulence. The Coupe’s elegant, sculpted styling has been carried over to the all-new 2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible, which looks just as exquisite without a fixed roof.

Speaking of which, the electric folding fabric roof can be deployed or stored in 19 seconds at up to 30 mph, transforming the Continental GT Convertible from a luxurious coupe into an open-top Grand Tourer at the touch of a button. Seven fabric hood colors are available, including a swanky tweed finish for the first time. A newly designed neck warmer, which is both warmer and quieter than the previous model, is seamlessly integrated into the heated seats, optimizing efficiency and airflow around the electrically adjustable headrests.

Compared to its predecessor, the 2019 Continental GT Convertible is five percent stiffer and 20 percent lighter, but it still has a kerb weight of 5,322 pounds making it slightly heavier than the coupe version, which tips the scales at 4,947 pounds.

Powering the open-top grand-tourer is Bentley’s wonderfully powerful 6.0-liter W12. Like the coupe, the engine produces 626 horsepower and is connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The dash to 62 mph is completed in 3.7 seconds, which is just a tenth of a second slower than its fixed roof sibling. Top speed still sits at a scintillating 207 mph.

Inside, you’ll find the finest selection of high-quality leathers and rare wooden veneers, as well as a heated steering wheel, seat heaters and new heated armrests, ensuring passengers will travel in sumptuous comfort. According to Bentley, the new Continental GT Convertible is as quiet as the previous-generation Continental GT Coupe thanks to “combination of roof insulating materials and operating mechanism, combined with sealing system improvements and acoustic treatments.” Rear legroom is identical to the Coupe, too. Elsewhere, the cabin features a configurable digital instrument cluster and a rotating 12.3-inch infotainment display.

As standard, the all-new Continental GT Convertible rides on 21-inch Five Tri-Spoke wheels, with the option of 10-Spoke and 22-inch Five Open-Spoke wheels. Each design is offered in a selection of ten polished and painted finishes. Pricing for the 2019 Continental GT Convertible hasn’t been announced yet, but expect it to be even more expensive than the Coupe, which starts at a wallet-crunching $225,000.

The New Bentley Continental GT Will Look Amazing As A Convertible

Thanks to rendering artists, we already know what the continental GTC will look like.

It's been just a few days since the reveal of the new Bentley Continental GT. The car features new design cues that were borrowed from the gorgeous EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept, which stole the Geneva show when it was revealed back in 2015, but Bentley came out with an even more stunning convertible EV version of the car called the EXP 12 Speed 6e. Even though the all-new Continental GT has only been revealed as a coupe, we know that a convertible model will be on its way soon. Luckily, Spdesignsest has already made a rendering of what the GTC will look like.

This rendering artist has done a great job envisioning the new Continental GTC. We doubt that the final car will be a two seater like the rendering, and will most likely feature a couple of rear seats. Even if this is not what the real car will look like, we think that this rendering gives us a good idea of how good the new Continental GT will look like as a drop top. In our opinion, the convertible is even better looking than the coupe. The Continental GT is rumored to hit dealerships near the Summer of 2018, and the GTC will be available closer to the end of the year. We also can't wait to see what else Bentley has in store with the new car's engines.

So far, the only engine option is a 6.0-liter 626 hp twin-turbo W12 that is mated to a new eight-speed dual-clutch. We have no doubt that faster Speed and SS models will be available at some point, and there will likely be a smaller V8 version and possibly a hybrid model. This new Continental will be a very important car for Bentley, and we can't wait to see what else the company has up its sleeve.

Bentley CEO Says Next Continental GT Will Go Electric

But it's still a decade away at least.

Just a few weeks ago, British luxury automaker Bentley revealed its first-ever production electrified vehicle at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show—the Bentayga Plug-In Hybrid. The year before at the same show, the British firm took the sheet off an all-electric concept called the EXP 12 Speed 6e, which wowed media and the public alike. It's expected to go into production at some point, too. Now, a third possible electric vehicle has entered the Bentley fray, according to CEO Adrian Hallmark, who believes its customers desire some green, do-gooder cred.

In an interview with Bloomberg (via CarScoops), Hallmark explained its not in Bentley's best interest to ignore electrification for the future. “There is a new dimension long-term in the purchase decision—the ethical value,” Hallmark explained. “Electrification is part of it, and electrification isn’t going away.” To give the rich what they desire, Bentley plans to make an electric version of the next Continental GT. “We already know that the [next version] will be a battery electric vehicle,” he says. “It will have all of those moral and ethical benefits with it. By not going that way, even if we don’t have to, we would be massively under-performing in terms of customer potential.” Still, it's likely more than a decade away.

Bentley revealed a new Continental GT midway through last year. It will continue to be powered by a gasoline-fed W12 engine and there likely isn't any room within its platform to fit the equipment required to turn it into a full EV, though it will gain a hybrid variation later in its lifecycle as Bentley has vowed to offer an electrified version of all its vehicles by 2025. For now, the Continental GT will crank out 626 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque the old-fashioned way—by burning a copious amount of fossil fuel.

This Brutal Bentley Continental GT3-R Is One Of Only 300

Unusually, this rare limited-edition model has depreciated in value, making it a seriously good bargain for collectors.

Unlike other luxury automakers like, say, Rolls-Royce, Bentley has a rich racing heritage. And sometimes it applies its racing pedigree to its luxury cars to make them a little more savage. Take this brutal Bentley Continental GT3-R, for example. Only 300 examples rolled off the production line, each powered by a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 that develops 572 horsepower and 518 lb-ft of torque. Weighing in at 4,937 pounds, it isn’t exactly light, but this hasn’t affected the performance as much as you would expect.

Zero to 62 mph takes a respectable 3.6 seconds before the coupe reaches a top speed of 170 mph, making it one of the fastest Bentleys ever made. Bentley also added carbon fiber components, bespoke green decals, and more aggressive styling akin to its GT3 race car to differentiate it from the standard Continental. And now one of them is up for sale, courtesy of Motor GT. Out of the 300 that were produced, only 99 examples were sent to the US, making this racing-inspired grand-tourer even rarer. It’s also a relative bargain considering its exclusivity and pristine condition, having only been driven 9,769 miles since it was produced in 2015.

Originally, a Bentley Continental GT3-R would have set you back $339,000, but the dealer is asking for $215,000, making this a rare example of a limited-edition model that’s depreciated in value over time. In three years, it’s already depreciated by $124,000. Originally, the Continental GT3-R also included a matching Bell Racing GT3 helmet and Breitling GT3 watch. The watch is worth $16,000 alone, but the listing doesn’t state whether it’s part of the deal. Either way, this is a rare opportunity to own one of the most powerful, and hard-to-find luxury grand-tourers ever built.
