SUBJECT:
Passenger Mirror Moves Incrementally out of Position
MODEL:
E46 (3 Series) with Memory Mirrors. Vehicles produced before 09/00
Situation:
After tilting when reverse gear is selected, the passenger mirror returns to a slightly different position, steadily moving away from its preset position
each time reverse gear is selected. The original preset position can be restored by pressing the "memory preset" button.
Cause:
Software error in passenger door module SW 01.
Correction:
On a customer complaint basis only, where this failure has actually occurred, install passenger door module SW 02.
Procedure:
Remove passenger door trim panel (refer to repair instructions 51 41 000). Remove and replace passenger door module.
Reinstall passenger door trim.
