Automatic Dimming Rearview Mirror Does Not Dim
MODEL
E88 (1 Series Convertible) produced up to 9/2010 and equipped with Auto-dimming rearview mirror (SA 431)
SITUATION
In isolated situations with the convertible top in the closed position, the auto-dimming rearview mirror may not dim.
CAUSE

With the top is closed, an adequate amount of light may not reach the light sensor in the mirror.
CORRECTION
Replace the rearview mirror with the mirror from an E93 (3 Series Convertible), which contains the same features as the affected vehicle.
PROCEDURE
Replace the rearview mirror per Repair Instruction REP 51 16 063.
