This Service Information bulletins supersedes S.I. 61 16 00 dated December 2000.



SUBJECT:



Battery Maintenance



MODEL:

SITUATION:



An analysis of batteries replaced under warranty shows that many claims could have been avoided had the batteries been maintained in a full state of



charge.



CORRECTION:



Batteries must be maintained at all times when vehicles are at a retailer whether they are new cars, used cars, in storage (back lot), on display, or



customer cars in for maintenance or repair.



Please refer to and follow the maintenance procedure detailed in Service Information Bulletin 61 07 88 (Battery Maintenance Requirements), which



also describes the conditions when a battery should be replaced.



WARRANTY INFORMATION



Batteries replaced due to lack of maintenance should not be charged to warranty.

This Service Information bulletin replaces S.I. 64 08 91 dated October 1991.



SUBJECT:



Musty Odors from Air Conditioning System



MODEL:



All



SITUATION:



Under certain environmental conditions, moisture that remains/condenses on the evaporator after the vehicle's ignition is turned OFF may eventually



result in a musty odor coming from the vents when the air conditioner is first switched ON.



CORRECTION:



On customer complaint basis only, apply air conditioning disinfectant to produce an environment inhospitable to microorganisms.



Disinfectant (AirPlus A/C Cleaner Scented Kit - 10531-S) that can be used to treat air conditioning systems is available through:

Important Notes:



1. Follow the manufactures direction exactly.



2. Observe all precautions on container.



3. Before applying the product remove the microfilter. Reinstall (or replace if necessary) the microfilter after cleaning service was completed.
