Vehicles produced between 09/2007 and 09/2009 with option 663 (Radio BMW Professional, RAD2) and option 676 (HIFI Loudspeaker System)



SITUATION



Intermittently there is no audio output after vehicle start-up. The radio is working.



^ The AM/FM radio station, CD or AUX is displayed correctly.



^ The backlight is on.



^ All buttons on the radio are working.



Switching the audio mode and/or the radio off/on or performing any other selection will not resume audio functionality.



The radio will only operate correctly again after a sleep mode cycle.



CAUSE



Overvoltage spike during vehicle start-up

The corrective measure has been integrated into the latest version of ISTA diagnostics.



[NEW] CORRECTION



Refer to ISTA diagnosis for the required repair procedure. Perform the recommended steps in the test plan B6512_WASRAD2 - RAD2 Fault

Diagnose any relevant faults to these control units that are stored by completing the test plans. If no faults are stored in the radio: install an Unloader Relay. Refer to Attachment_A.
