SUBJECT



Creaking Noise from Top of Door Frame and Window



MODEL



E60, E61 (5 Series)



E70 (X5)



E71, E72 (X6)



F01, F02 (7 Series)



SITUATION



A creaking noise is generated from the top of the door window area while driving. The noise level varies based on road conditions, temperature and



humidity. If the door window is lowered, the noises stop.



CAUSE



The door seal at the top of the door window frame causes the noise where it makes contact with the vehicle roof Dirt and silicon-based products



negatively impact the flocking of the seal.



CORRECTION



Install a strip of clear Teflon tape to the painted roof area where the door seal meets the roof.



PROCEDURE
