As expected, it essentially looks like a shrunken version of the new 5 Series, but that’s no bad thing.

The G20 3 Series looks more aggressive than its predecessor, sporting a larger grille, redesigned headlights available either as LEDs or laser lights and a new double crease down the side. At the back are slim taillights and a subtle boot-lid spoiler. Four exterior colors are shown in the configurator images: Dravit Grey, Tansanit Blue II, Citrin Black II and Vermont Bronze. Along with the Portimao Blue.

We also get a look at the interior, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch central touchscreen display, new sports seats, new climate controls, and new steering wheels. From the images, it’s a significant improvement over the outgoing model.

Under the skin, the new 3 Series rides on BMW’s new CLAR architecture, which also underpins the 5 Series and X3 SUV. In terms of powertrains, the new 3 Series is expected to use a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder delivering around 360 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Bentley's First Electric Vehicle Should Arrive Before 2025

Even though an electric Bentley seems likely, it still hasn't been confirmed for production. If approved, the EV would likely be based on a platform called Premium Platform Electric (PPE), shared with Audi and Porsche. By sharing the platform with Audi, Porsche says it will have around 30% on developments costs. The cost would be amortized even more if the platform was shared with Bentley.

Bentley needs to lower its CO2 emissions, which currently sit as the highest in the VW Group due to the company's reliance on heavy vehicles with large engines. An EV would drastically lower Bentley's overall carbon footprint.

Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark says "When is the first full-electric Bentley? That is currently in the decision process, but our target is definitely before 2025." The biggest obstacle is deciding whether Bentley can use Porsche's platform because developing a new one would be too expensive. This year has already been challenging for Bentley as the company faced delays with the Continental GT due to complications adopting Porsche's dual-clutch transmission.

We still aren't sure which model will be the first in Bentley's lineup to go electric. Some rumors indicate it will be the next-generation Mulsanne, while other rumors point to the Continental GT getting an EV variant. No matter which model is, expect to see an all-electric Bentley in the near future.

In an interview with Auto Express, Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark said these delays have put the company in the red for the first time since 2009.

“Two problems have driven us into the red,” he explained. “The [Continental GT] coupe was delayed nine months, it just wasn’t ready for launch. But we’d paid for it – we’d paid all the money out, but not got any money back in. The second factor was, just when we thought we had the GT right and production flowing, WLTP comes along so we had further delays.”

Bentley has decided to be completely upfront about its unpreparedness for WLTP. Now, the company should be well-positioned to make a profit in 2019. “Next year we have to be back in the black. The coupe will be flowing, the convertible is coming, Bentayga will be on full chat with the V8 and the hybrid, that’s been delayed because of WLTP too, should be here in the first half of next year, maybe even first quarter.”

Here’s The New BMW Z4 Before You’re Supposed To See It

We’ve known for a while now that BMW will unveil the production-spec Z4 at Pebble Beach later this month. Although the automaker has released a series of photos showing a pre-production Z4 test mule decked out in camouflage, official images of the final design remained top secret. Until now. Sundays can be exciting after all.

Thanks to the folks at Bimmer Post via SupraMVK, three leaked images of the all-new 2019 BMW Z4 have found their way online. Not only is it a far more exciting and emotional design than its immediate predecessor, but it also bears a striking resemblance to the Z4 concept BMW brought to Pebble Beach almost exactly a year ago. So, let’s dig in.

The production Z4 (at least in M40i spec as shown here) looks awfully similar to the concept, specifically the front end design and those angled headlights, which are now wider. The lower grille is also bigger, but the overall shape is still very similar to the concept. The twin kidney grille retains the concept’s general mesh pattern and it’s also slightly larger. Out back, those narrow taillights remain, as do the air vents at each side. Even the shape of the exhausts are nearly identical.

Looking at the production Z4 from the side, the concept’s angled lines have been very much carried over. Just look at the side vent just behind the front wheel. The character line is also angled downwards, ultimately ending at the front wheel.

There’s also a lower character line that angles up towards the rear wheel, thus creating not only an emotional design but also one that gives the car of being in motion even at a standstill. Generally speaking, BWW got this one right here, but we’re still waiting for official pictures to arrive in order to make a final judgment. While the e-tron is an SUV crossover, the e-tron GT takes the shape of a sleek four-door coupe, with a similar silhouette to the A7, sleek athletic lines, a muscular rear end and bags of supercar performance.

We’ve long been huge fans of the liftback body style. It’ll reportedly have a 248-mile range on a single charge and 80 percent of its battery can be recharged in less than 12 minutes as it’ll be the first Audi EV equipped with batteries capable of charging at 350 kWh. In other words, don’t worry about range anxiety because it won’t be a problem. Performance details are yet to be confirmed but Audi told us 0-60 mph will happen in 3.5 seconds.

Think what you want, but there’s past precedent for even-numbered SUVs with sleeker, more coupe-like styling: X2, X4, and X6.

However, BMW Blog’s sources claim the X8 will not be a coupe version of the X7, meaning BMW has even higher aspirations and confidence in the luxury SUV market. Just look at its expected competition: the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, and the forthcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Then again, Rolls-Royce is owned by BMW, so it’d be interesting to see how the Cullinan and an X8 will differ in terms of packaging, though they’ll appeal to different (rich) buyers. Just look at its expected competition: the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, and the forthcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Then again, Rolls-Royce is owned by BMW, so it’d be interesting to see how the Cullinan and an X8 will differ in terms of packaging, though they’ll appeal to different (rich) buyers. For now, though, the suits in Munich have yet to make a final decision and are still studying whether there’s a business case. If we had to make a guess right here, right now, then we’d say "Yes." Why?

It makes sense given the growing demand for uber luxurious SUVs. One of the X8’s top priorities would be to give rear seat passengers the same level of pampering as they do in the 7 Series sedan. That means more than enough headroom is required, so a more conventional, non-coupe roofline is necessary. Also expect all of latest technologies and autonomous driving features.

This Is The 2019 BMW X4 M Before You're Supposed To See It

The new X4 M has been spotted at BMW’s South Carolina factory completely undisguised.

BMW unveiled the all-new second-generation X4 SUV earlier this year, so it’s only a matter of time before the hot M version breaks cover. We’ve already seen a camouflaged prototype model being put through its paces at the Nurburgring, but thanks to a leaked image posted by Mexican publication AutoCosmos from inside the automaker’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina we’ve been given an early look at BMW’s hardcore compact SUV completely undisguised potentially months before its official reveal.

The leaked image shows the X4 M’s entire rear end sporting wider fenders, a new bumper with an integrated diffuser and quad exhaust pipes, and, of course, a signature ‘M’ badge on the tailgate.

A closer look also reveals M-specific side mirrors and larger alloy wheels with even more M branding. While we don’t get a look at the front-end, recent spy photos have already confirmed the 2019 X4 M will feature larger intakes, an M-style kidney grille and a more aggressive bumper. Aesthetically, it's exactly what we've come to expect from BMW's M division.

Other than that, the new X4 M should look identical to the second-gen X4 that it’s based on, but expect mechanical improvements such as improved brakes, stiffer suspension and sharper steering to provide a sportier driving experience.

Under the hood, the new X4 M expected to pack the same 3.0-liter, twin-turbo inline-six engine as the M3 and M4, which is said to produce around 450 horsepower and carry over to the new X3 M. 0-62 mph should take around four seconds. BMW hasn’t announced a reveal date yet, but since the standard 2019 X4 goes on sale in July we’re expecting the M version to break cover before the end of the year.

Bentley Bentayga Hybrid Leaks Before Official Reveal

A production version of the EXP12 Speed 6e Concept will also follow.

We’ve known for some time Bentley planned a surprise for this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Now those plans have leaked out: a plug-in hybrid version of the Bentayga SUV will debut at the Swiss show. While Bentley has not yet officially announced its first-ever plug-in hybrid for the show, a report emerged on Autocar with details and images of the model. The British outlet swiftly took down the report, but not before Carscoops gathered all the details and photos.

According to CarScoops, the Bentayga will inherit the same setup as the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid. This means we can expect a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine paired with an electric motor, generating a combined output of around 450 horsepower. The report didn't detail any performance figures. It will also offer 31 miles of pure electric range and take 7.5 hours to fully charge. A quick-charger styled by renowned designer Philippe Starck will reduce that time to 2.5 hours, however. It’s designed to keep cables “neat and safe” while acting as a “functional piece of art.”

Three E Modes will be available in the Bentayga Hybrid to manage battery usage: EV Drive, Hybrid, and Hold. A dedicated infotainment system will also provide data on powertrain usage. Visually, the Bentayga Hybrid looks virtually identical to its combustion-engined counterparts and can only be distinguished by copper-colored “Hybrid” badges and wheel hubs. As part of its electrification plans, a fully electric Bentley sports car is also expected to launch in 2020 as a production version of the exquisite EXP12 Speed 6e concept that debuted at Geneva last year. It's expected to share the same platform as the Porsche Mission E.

No pricing details have been revealed, but the plug-in hybrid is expected to be priced below the range-topping W12 Bentayga. Bentley will be lifting the wraps off the Bentayga Hybrid at Geneva this week, but we suspect an online reveal is imminent now that the details have leaked.
