BMW Makes Us Envious With Green Concept M8 Gran Coupe

Say hello to BMW's new flagship

BMW unveiled its newest edition to the 8 Series lineup in Geneva by taking the wraps off its previously teased four-door coupe variant, the Concept M8 Gran Coupe. While a concept in name, the Concept M8 Gran Coupe will most certainly become a production model, filling the slot of BMW's new flagship sedan. With it, BMW wants to challenge the meaning of luxury by buttressing the liberal use of buzzword “dynamic” with others like “polarizing” and “extrovert” in its release to emphasize the model will blaze its own path.

“The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe is designed to stir things up, to polarise – it should move you emotionally,” explained Domagoj Dukec, Vice President Design BMW M and BMW i, in a release from the automaker. “With this car we want to reach people who are looking for something special and who want to stand out from the crowd. Here, BMW M is unmistakably taking luxury out of its comfort zone.” That said, the Concept M8 Gran Coupe is not your typical, fly-under-the-radar executive sedan. BMW gave the Concept M8 Gran Coupe an incredibly unique paint job that'll likely be an acquired taste for most.

Its Salève Vert finish shifts from green to greyish blue, and contrasts with the car's gold-tinted brightwork. Large air intakes and a more angular twin-kidney grille give the Concept M8 Gran Coupe an aggressive face, set off even more by BMW's use of yellow-tinted headlights. Those lights, BMW claims, lift technology from the M8 GTE endurance racer to best light the path ahead. BMW didn't detail powerplants for the new model, but expect an assortment of V8 engines and a possible V12 on production versions of the 8 Series Gran Coupe and M8 Gran Coupe. The Bavarian automaker will give more detail on those cars in 2019 as it rounds out its 8 Series lineup, which includes a new 8 Series Coupe.

Holy Moly Moscow! Chrome Green Lumma CLR X 650M

Is this too much or just right? We will let the CarBuzz readers decide.

We've covered some of Lumma Design's offerings in the past, however nothing stands out more than their green chrome and carbon fiber body kit for the BMW X6 M. Dubbed by Lumma as the CLR X 650 M, it follows in the footsteps of the Lamborghini Murcielago we saw in Beijing and the BMW F10 5-Series M Sport Sedan as being completely covered in the shiny material. The Lumma Design CLR X 650 M was spotted in Moscow, Russia's largest city.
