SUBJECT

Soft Top Switch Function and Window Operation

MODEL

E88 (1 Series Convertible)

E64 (6 Series Convertible) produced from 9/2008

E93 (3 Series Convertible) produced from 9/2008

INFORMATION

E64 and E88

^ The window operation that occurs when the convertible top switch is operated has changed.

^ The previous logic was that when opening or closing the convertible top and continuing to hold the switch, the windows would fully close after a

short delay.

^ On E88 vehicles from start of production, and E64 vehicles from 9/08 production, the windows will no longer rise following the open or close

cycle of the convertible top, when either the soft top open or close switches are held.

E93

Until 9/08 production:

^ Pressing down on the convertible top switch located on the center console would close the retractable hard top and, if held, close the windows.

^ Pulling the switch would open the roof, and again the window would close if the switch was held.

From 9/08 production:

^ This switch operation has been reversed so that pressing the switch is now necessary to open the RHT.

^ Pulling the switch will now close the RHT.

^ The windows will still rise following RHT closure, due to the fact that the customer pulls the switch The windows will no longer rise, following

the opening of the roof, by pressing and holding the switch.

NOTES:

These changes were made to conform to an upcoming regulation change governing power window operation.

^ The functionality of E64 and E93 vehicles produced up to 9/2008 will not change if the vehicle software is updated.

^ The switch function on vehicles produced from 9/2008 cannot be changed to mimic that of a pre-9/2008 vehicle.

^ Both the convertible top operation and subsequent window operation are unchanged when operating them via the mechanical key in the lock
