INFORMATION



Failure to follow the repair procedures, including the use of the special tools and the correct torque specifications during the removal, installation



and or replacement of the high-pressure fuel system components can result in damage to the high-pressure fuel lines, high-pressure fuel injectors,



high-pressure pump and the cylinder head.



The use of power or pneumatic tools is not allowed when removing and installing these components.

The buttons on the iDrive controller are not working. CAUSE





The button(s) on the iDrive controller mechanically stick. PROCEDURE





Do not replace parts for the situation described in this Service Information bulletin.









Remove the controller from the center console (electrical connection still connected), and retest the operation of all the buttons.







If the buttons work properly when the controller is removed, reinstall the controller in the center console. Ensure that the controller is fitted properly into the center console, without any tension. Retest the button operation. If the buttons still do not work properly, proceed to procedure steps 3 and 4.







Perform diagnosis using ISTA (Integrated Service Technical Application). Complete any test plans related to iDrive controller faults, if stored.







If no faults are stored, perform and follow the recommendations in the "CON: Control button and additional buttons" test plan. The test plan can be found under the following path: "Function structure/Body/Operation/Controller/Control knob and additional buttons".

SUBJECT



Service Action: Program Control Units (DCT)



MODEL



E82, E88, E89, E90, E92, E93 vehicles with DCT transmission (option code 2MK) produced from 1/08/2008 to 8/31/2010



SITUATION



Due to errors in the diagnostic software of the DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) module, the "Freeze frame data" of the DCT memory can not be



read out when using aftermarket scan tools.



CAUSE



DCT software error



AFFECTED VEHICLES



[NEW] This Service Action involves E90, E92 and E93 M3 vehicles with the S65 engine and DCT transmission and E82, E88, E89, E92 and E93



vehicles with the N54/N54T/N55 engine and DCT transmission which were produced from 01/08/2008 to 08/31/2010. Excluding the 135i N54



(E82, E88), 335Xi N54 (E92) and 335i N55 (E93).



In order to determine whether a specific vehicle has had this Service Action completed or is affected by this Service Action, first check the B-pillar



label for code number 575. If code number 575 has been punched out, the campaign has already been performed. If code number 575 has not been



punched out, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the



response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.



PROCEDURE



Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.39.0 or a more recent version.



E8x/E9x - Integration level (new): E89x-10-09-501 or higher.



Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Programming.



LABEL INSTRUCTIONS



This Service Action has been assigned code number 575. After the vehicle has been checked and/or corrected, obtain a label (SD 92-380) and:



A. Emboss your BMW center warranty number in the middle of the label (1);



B. Punch out code number 575 (2), printed on the label; and

C. Affix the label to the B-pillar as shown.



If the vehicle already has a label from a previous Service Action/Recall Campaign, affix the new label next to the old one. Do not affix one label on

In order to determine whether a specific vehicle has had this Service Action completed or is affected by this Service Action, first check the B-pillar



label for code number 575. If code number 575 has been punched out, the campaign has already been performed. If code number 575 has not been
