Whereas the X3, X4, X5 and X6 are being built at BMW’s US factory in Spartanburg where the upcoming X7 three-row SUV will also be assembled, the X2 will be manufactured at the Regensburg factory in Germany alongside the X1.

The BMW X2 will make its official debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show this September, where BMW is also rumored to show off an X7 concept powered by fuel-cell technology.

BMW Looks To The Future With Upcoming i4

It will join four an ever-growing range of EVs when it arrives in 2021.

The much-awaited 3 Series was the main event at this year's Paris Motor Show but somehow we got the feeling that it was the beginning of the end for the traditional gas-powered sedan segment.

The new 3 showcased some impressive tech and the hybrid 330e is a big step up from the current model, but behind the scenes, BMW is working on a major EV offensive that Chairman Harald Krüger confirmed will include the i4 in 2021.

This model will become the fifth fully electric core offering from the Bavarian manufacturer, the first being the i3 which has just been given a bigger battery pack. The Mini Electric is due next year followed by the iX3 SUV in 2020. Both the range-topping iNext and i4 sedan will make their entrance in 2021 and it doesn’t end there.

By 2025, BMW plans to have 25 electrified models in total, 12 of which will be fully-electric.

With regards to the i4, Krüger remained tight-lipped about any specific details but this model originated from the i Vision Dynamics concept shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. That vehicle had a sub-3-second 0-60 mph time and a range of up to 373 miles. Battery capacities will range between 60kWh and 120kWh for these next-gen EVs so that sort of range is well within reach.

Size wise, the i4 should be in line with the current 3 and 4 series models and will be the more affordable option as opposed to the flagship iNext EV. Perhaps the inclusion of a classic sedan body style EV in the upcoming range is what is needed to ensure that this segment continues to flourish.

BMW X2 Upgraded With Hot-Hatch Manners And Stylish Looks

German tuner Dahler has boosted the X2 up to 223 hp.

The BMW X2 has only been on sale for a few months, but aftermarket tuners have wasted no time modifying the youthful SUV. German company Dahler is one of the first tuners to rework the BMW X2 inside and out with its Competition Line package, giving the SUV a more aggressive look. To achieve this, the chrome inserts and trim have been painted in black to match the exterior color. The lower insert of the front bumper retains the dark grey paint job it had when the SUV left the factory, but the dual kidney grille has also been blacked out.

The murdered-out X2 rides on a set of custom 10-spoke Dahler wheels, available either in 20- or 21-inch. They’re currently only finished in silver, but a choice of different colors and styles will be made available in the future. Dahler hasn’t just modified the exterior however, as the tuner has done some tinkering under the hood. The German tuner’s X2 comes in four states of tune. The gasoline-powered 118i now produces 158 horsepower and 197 lb-ft of torque, up from 136 hp. The 120i has also been given a power boost, and now produces 223 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. Diesel options also get a bump: the 18d produces 174 hp and 287 lb-ft of torque, while the 20d produces 220 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque.

The ride quality has also been improved thanks to Dahler’s sports spring kit and a range of available exhaust options are also available to enhance the sound. No pricing details have been released about how much the upgrade package will cost.

New BMW 3 Series Touring Looks Ready To Rock

But we still don’t know if it will be sold in America.

BMW lifted the wraps off the new G20-generation 3 Series at this year’s Paris Auto Show and it was certainly worth the wait, boasting more power, less weight, and significantly improved handling. In short, it’s better than its predecessor in every way. Two trims will be available in America: the 330i, which is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 255 horsepower, and a more potent M340i with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six producing 382 hp.

Sadly, it will only be available with an automatic transmission, whereas the 318d and 320d diesel models will be equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox in Europe. Now that the sedan has broken cover, the new 3 Series family will soon expand with a new 3 Series Touring and a full-fat M3.

A recent report claimed that the new 3 Series Touring will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next year, which makes sense since the current model is expected to end production in June 2019. In the meantime, our spies have caught a prototype of the new 3 Series Touring being carried on a transporter, and it’s already started strip teasing.

There’s some camouflage covering the rear, but the front fascia is completely exposed. Unsurprisingly, the front looks nearly identical to its sedan sibling, sharing the same sleek LED headlights and redesigned kidney grille. The G20 3 Series sedan is also larger than its predecessor, so the new Touring model should provide occupants with more room inside than the current 3 Series Wagon.

The 3 Series Touring should also share the same engines as its sedan sibling, including the aforementioned 255-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and 382-hp 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six. Rumors also suggest BMW will launch a high-performance M3 Touring to rival the Audi RS4 Avant.

It isn’t yet clear if BMW will sell the new 3 Series Touring in America. While the automaker currently sells the 3 Series Wagon Stateside, wagons aren’t very popular in the US so it seems unlikely.

2019 BMW X5 Looks Decidedly Sportier With New M Performance Parts

Squint and you can tell what the X5 M might look like.

With the SEMA show set to open this week, we've been seeing lots of accessories being released from American automakers especially. But while the vehicle they're applied to is made right here in America, this is one set we don't much expect to see at the Vegas tuner expo.

It's the fresh range of M Performance Parts released for the new BMW X5, designed to imbue the fourth iteration of the Bavarian crossover with a sportier custom flair – and may very well give us our best idea yet of what the forthcoming X5 M could look like.

The exterior components, to start with, are all made (as you might expect) from carbon fiber, with a glossy finish. The catalog includes new trim pieces for the air intake in the front bumper, along with a new rear diffuser, winglets at both ends, and matching door mirror caps. The quarter-panel trim, meanwhile, is offered in a matte black finish, running between the wheel wells, which can be filled with a choice of fresh 20- or 22-inch alloys, packing upgraded brakes with 19-inch rotors and four-pot calipers finished in red. And there's more options for the interior, too.

Step inside an X5 so equipped and you'll find a new steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara, stitched in silver, with a red center marker at 12 o'clock and available in carbon fiber. There's a pair of fabric-covered shift paddles available to replace the metallic ones, along with special floor matts, stainless-steel pedals, and even M Performance logo slides for the LED door projectors. And there's a new Drive Analyser telematics system available as well, should you want to take your crossover to the track – which just goes to show how they think at BMW, no matter what kind of vehicle they're producing.

The All-New BMW 8 Series' Interior Looks Absolutely Incredible

These leaked images reveal (almost) everything.

We’re only a little over a month away from the official debut of the second generation BMW 8 Series. The big reveal will take place at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, beginning on June 16. While BMW has never been shy regarding the new 8 Series’ overall design language, evidenced by the concept as well as the automaker’s own spy shots, we have yet to get a clear picture of the interior. Until now, that is. Thanks to Bimmerpost, someone has snapped some high def images of the interior of the M850i (notice the M-badge under the gear shifter).

Though there’s still some plastic covering the two-tone red-black leather-covered seats, this is the final production spec interior. There are several familiar BMW design cues, but overall this interior is meant to inaugurate a new styling era for BMW. It has been aware for some time now that its interiors were lagging behind those of arch rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz in terms of overall fit and finish and design. The new 8 Series will change all of that. From what we can clearly see here, there are still some buttons, located below the air vents, but one of BMW’s goals here was to make things less complicated, i.e. fewer buttons. This has clearly been done.

Above those vents is a large touchscreen which is probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 inches in length, give or take. Center console controls also appear to be simplified, all of which are located entirely in close proximity to the gear shifter and iDrive control rotary knob. A pair of cupholders is located directly in front of this. Also notice an abundance of aluminum trim, specifically surrounding the air vents and dashboard. The steering wheel is also very familiar in appearance. Behind is it is the fully digital driver’s gauge cluster, which looks pretty massive in size as well. Considering the official 8 Series debut is just around the corner, don’t be surprised to see additional leaked images of the production car, both inside and out.

How To Make An X5 M So Powerful That The X6 M Looks Like A Snail

This tuner has worked some serious magic.

Not too long ago we saw German tuner G-Power unveil its ferocious tuned version of the BMW X6 M. The tuning company managed to push the already high-performing SUV to deliver a monstrous 650 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque. G-Power has now set its sights on tuning the X6 M’s little brother, the X5 M, and the results are nothing short of spectacular. In fact, the results are so good that tuner apparently managed to make the X5 M even more powerful than its X6 M project.

The X5 M’s 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 was tuned from its original 567 hp to an astonishing 690 hp. The car also pumps out a massive 667 lb-ft of torque. This incredible fete was accomplished by either remapping the stock ECU or replacing it entirely with a new ECU. G-Power also added a high performance stainless-steel exhaust system and completely did away with the X5 M’s top speed limiter. The G-Power BMW X5 M also rides on a set of super light weight forged alloys crafted from aircraft-grade aluminum.
