Creaking Noise from the Sides of the Instrument Panel

Vehicles produced up to 4/2009 SITUATION
A creaking noise can be heard from one or both sides of the instrument panel as the body of the vehicle flexes while driving over uneven surfaces. The noise may sound as though it is coming from the fresh air vents on the instrument panel.
CAUSE
Contact between the instrument panel itself and the instrument panel mounting bracket
[NEW] PROCEDURE
The problem has been integrated into ISTA diagnostics. Follow the diagnosis test plan, using the latest ISTA version.
In "Information Search," select the "Function Structure" tab. Select NED, Body, Interference noise, dashboard and center console, and then press "Start Search." Select test plan "B5116_E87MECH1 - dashboard and center console interference noises."
