INFORMATION

BMW vehicles (excluding convertibles) have antennas on the inside surface of the rear window glass. The antennas, which consist of ribbons of

conductive material, provide the signals for both Radio operation and the operation of the Remotes. The antennas are located on the rear window,

and on the rear side window (X5/S port Wagons). Refer to the ETM for specific antenna locations.

Aftermarket window tint is a plastic film that is applied to the interior of the glass. This film contains small amounts of carbon or ceramic material

which reduces the effectiveness of the antennas. BMW owners, who have aftermarket window tint installed, may find that this affects both AM/FM

Radio reception and the range of the Remotes.
