SUBJECT
MRS 3 Airbag Fault Code 01/0D
MODEL
E38, E39 manufactured from 09/99 up to 05/00
SITUATION
The SRS airbag warning light stays illuminated and fault codes 01 ("Airbag, driver"), or 0D ("Airbag, driver stage 2") - "Resistance too high" are
stored in the Airbag Control Module memory.
CAUSE
Resistance fluctuation at the 6-pin connector (X01093), between driver's airbag generators and steering wheel slip ring.
CORRECTION
On a customer complaint basis only, perform diagnosis utilizing DIS or MoDiC and work through the corresponding test modules.
If the above mentioned fault codes are stored in the MRS3 module, then replace the driver airbag.
