SUBJECT:
THM-R1 Fault Code 111 Diagnosis
MODEL
E36 - - 3 Series with M44 / M52 with automatic
E39 - - 5 Series with M52 / M52TU with automatic
E36 - - Z3 with M44/ M52 / M52TU with automatic
SITUATION
Customer complaint of "Check Engine" lamp illuminated, or transmission "slipping". Fault code 111, "component slippage/speed monitoring" is
stored in the TCMIEGS.
CAUSE
The following issues may cause fault code 111:
1. TCC slipping, or TCC solenoid not energized.
2. Internal fluid/pressure leak.
CORRECTION
Diagnose the vehicle as described in the attached flow chart. The repair will depend on the failure encountered.
PROCEDURE
To diagnose FC 111, refer to the attachment. The flowchart should be used as a guide for the diagnosis. All vehicle specific repairs/procedures can
be found in the repair manual.
