SUBJECT
BM53 Radio: Time Delay When Changing Preset Radio Stations

[NEW] SITUATION
Only with RDS active, there is a time delay when changing radio stations with the preset buttons on the monitor display or with the MFL button.
[NEW] CAUSE
Radio is coded incorrectly, the "AF (Alternative Frequency) function" is activated.
As a result, the BM53 radio checks for AF signals when RDS is active. This may take up to 10 seconds.
[NEW] CORRECTION
Code the BM53 radio via Progman for proper function.
When no control module was replaced, follow "Programming and Coding" outlined in SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming
(CIP), Procedure B).
If a control module was replaced, follow "Programming and Coding" outlined in SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming (CIP),
Procedure A).
1. Start "New session"
2. Select "Series (3, 5, X5)"
3. Select "Model (E46, E39, E53)"
4. Select "Load SW"
5. On screen "Have control modules been replaced on this car?" is shown, select:
- "No" when the radio has not been replaced

- "Yes" when the radio has been replaced
6. Select "RAD" after "Fitted control modules are being determined"
7. Select "Encoding"
8. Select "Start" after "Measures plan is being determined"
9. "Final Report" is shown at the end of the encoding
10. Make sure that all operations have a green check mark
11. Press "Finish" to end the encoding session

Please refer to the latest KSD for all applicable labor operations and allowances.
If the appropriate labor operation is not contained in KSD, then a work time labor operation should be used.
