MODEL

F04
Produced from August 2008 to July 2012
SITUATION
A rattling or clattering noise may be heard from the front passengers side footwell area when driving on rough roads.
CAUSE
The front passengers footwell trim makes contact with the side cover of the instrument panel.
PROCEDURE
Confirm the rattling noise is coming from the footwell trim near the glove compartment bottom.
1. The area of concern is where the plastic pieces of the footwell trim make contact with the lower instrument panel trim.

2. Refer to ISTA Repair Instruction 51 45 1950, "Remove and refit or replace the lower right hand trim for the instrument panel."
3. Apply a felt strip (10 x 35 x 2 mm) to the lower instrument panel trim, as shown in yellow.
Note:
Make sure the felt is not visible to the customer, after the trim is reassembled.
4. When reinstalling the trim, check the gap between the glove compartment and footwell trim. If the gap is larger than 2 mm, proceed to the next
step.

5. Modify the footwell trim reinforcing rib (as shown) by shaving the plastic rib down far enough to achieve the proper trim gap. Use a sharp
knife to shorten the height of the rib, to allow the footwell trim to fit higher and reduce the gap. Reinstall the modified footwell trim panel and
check for proper fitment.
