SUBJECT:
E46 - BMW Color Accessory Navigation System
MODEL:
E46, 3 series manufactured up to 09/99
Situation:
The E46 BMW Color Accessory Navigation System (PN 84 11 0 007 797) can be installed only in E46/2/4 vehicles manufactured prior to
September of 1999.
Cause:
Since 09/99 production, all 3 series vehicles are fitted with the Switching Center Module (SZM), which is not compatible with the Monitor &
Control Console (PN 51 18 9 416 197) of the Accessory Navigation Kit. There are no plans to redesign the Monitor Console to accommodate SZM
module.
IMPORTANT:
Before installation the BMW Accessory Navigation System in E46 vehicles, make sure that the vehicle is equipped with separate switches in the
ashtray bracket assembly (not an SZM module (1)) as shown on the illustration.
BMW Accessory Navigation System:
(1) Monitor & Control Console (PN 51 18 9 416 197), designed to accept the individual switches.
