SITUATION



A rattling noise may be heard from the steering column trim panels.

CAUSE



The upper and lower section of the steering column trim is not fastened properly.



PROCEDURE



Confirm the location of the rattling by lightly tapping on the upper and lower steering column trim, and then proceed to the next step.



1. Using Repair Instructions 32 31 003, remove the upper section of the steering column trim.



2. With the upper steering trim panel removed, locate the two top screw holes where the screws are missing. This is where the screws will be



installed.



Note:



This picture was taken from the top, looking down to the steering column.



3. Insert the screws though both holes in the securing bracket and align with the lower steering trim to fasten. Torque to 1.8 Nm. Install the upper



trim panel and quality check the repair by lightly tapping on the steering column trim, as before.
