118001 Fuel mixture control, mixture too lean, bank 1

118101 Fuel mixture control, mixture too lean, bank 2

CAUSE

Unmetered air leak in the induction system or a miscalculation of the air usage in the induction system

PROCEDURE

Perform all applicable test plans for the faults stored; a mechanical leakage, restriction, or electrical failure of an induction system component should

not be overlooked. If the results of the test plans are inconclusive, proceed to the troubleshooting hints provided below.

Smoke testing the induction system is the most effective way to determine the positive integrity of the system. For more information regarding the

approved tools, refer to SI B11 04 07. Refer to the illustrations below for some key areas to inspect during the smoke testing process.

Inspect the Charge Air Line (1) connections and the clamps (part removed for clarity).

Check the tightness of the attachment screw (2).

Check the crankcase ventilation system connection (3).

Check the connection at the flexible coupler (4) on the air box.

Remove the filtered air duct (5) for inspection.

With the filtered air duct removed, inspect the sealing surfaces (1).

Carefully inspect the sealing surfaces (inside and outside) of the gasket.
