BMW Assist Services - Vehicle Position Incorrect

This affects all vehicles equipped with BMW Assist and Teleservice.
SITUATION
When a BMW Assist Services call is placed, an incorrect vehicle position is transmitted to the call to the call center.
CAUSE
The vehicle is used only for driving short distances (less than 15 minutes per day).
The vehicle reference position is updated in the vehicle from the GPS (Global Positioning Satellites) approximately 15 minutes into each driving
cycle. When the vehicle is used on a regular basis for 15 minutes or less, the stored vehicle position is not updated. The incorrect vehicle position
becomes noticeable after approximately 2 weeks.
PROCEDURE
The customer should be informed about the connection between short distance driving and GPS data updating.
To perform the updating, the GPS data from the satellites has to be received again. Drive the vehicle for a period of more than 20 minutes and then
check that BMW Assist Services are operating properly.
