"Bulb out" Warning in Check Control
MODEL
E63, E64 (6 Series) vehicles from 9/2007
SITUATION
The "Bulb out" warning is displayed in the Check Control. Fault code A8BE or A8BF for the BFD (Brake Force Display) is stored in the lamp
module. No fault can be found with the BFD function which illuminates LEDs in the rear lamp. No incandescent bulbs are shown in the wiring
diagram or the EPC (Electronic Parts Catalog).
CAUSE
Open circuit incandescent bulb or bulb circuit in the lower rear lamp (see attachment).
Although installed in the vehicle, this bulb is not used for US vehicles, but the circuit is still monitored with the Check Control. For non-US vehicle,
the bulb is used as a rear fog lamp.
CORRECTION
Diagnose the circuit to identify the cause of the fault, and repair as appropriate.
