Whistling Noises Heard from the Heater Footwell Channel

Vehicles produced from SOP to 9/08/2009 with Automatic Air Conditioning option 0534



SITUATION



A whistling noise is heard coming from the footwell air vent with the IHKA (Integrated Heating and Air Conditioning Automatic) in Auto mode with



the temperature setting slightly lower than the current cabin temperature. This only affects vehicles with a "Valeo" manufactured heater box.



CAUSE



The footwell flap is opened partially to approximately 10%.



PROCEDURE

1. Duplicate the complaint.



2. Identify which IHKA housing is installed in the vehicle.



3. Remove the radio receiver (this includes the A/C and heater control panel) and inspect the white label on the front of the heater housing.



4. The label will identify either a Denso or Valeo unit.



5. If it is a Valeo unit, refer to the attachments for the complete repair procedure.



6. If it is a Denso unit, perform standard troubleshooting, as applicable.
