PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THIS SERVICE INFORMATION ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES BEFORE CUSTOMER
DELIVERY OR THE NEXT TIME THEY ARE IN THE SHOP FOR MAINTENANCE OR REPAIRS.
Under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966, as amended, if there has been a recall campaign, dealers must assure that all new
vehicles and new items of replacement equipment are free of safety defects and comply with all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards
at the time of delivery to the consumer. This means that dealers may not deliver new motor vehicles or new items of replacement equipment to
consumers unless the safety defect or noncompliance has been remedied before delivery.
SUBJECT
Recall Campaign 10V-233: Inspect Tire Information Placard
MODEL
E70 (X5)
E71 (X6)
SITUATION
Certain vehicles were produced with the incorrect tire information label installed. The tire information label may not reflect the size of the tires
installed on the vehicle.
Customers will receive notification letters which include a new tire information label and installation instructions. The customer will be given the
option of installing the label himself or herself or having the label installed at a BMW center.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Recall Campaign involves X5 and X6 models which were produced from March 12, 2010, to May 8, 2010.
In order to determine whether a specific vehicle has had this Recall Campaign completed or is affected by this Recall Campaign, first check the
B-pillar label for code number 571. If code number 571 has been punched out, the campaign has already been performed. If code number 571 has
not been punched out, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on
the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.
PROCEDURE
Open the driver's door and inspect the tire information label located on the B-pillar. The affected vehicles were produced with a label which
indicates 19-inch wheels and tires. However, the vehicle was originally equipped with 20-inch wheels and tires.
If the tire information on the label indicates 20-inch tires, no further action is necessary.
If the tire information on the label indicates 19-inch tires, wipe off the label with a clean lint-free cloth and apply a new label directly over the
existing label.

LABEL INSTRUCTIONS
This Recall Campaign has been assigned code number 571. After the vehicle has been checked and/or corrected, obtain a label (SD 92-380) and:
A. Emboss your BMW center warranty number in the middle of the label (1);
B. Punch out code number 571 (2), printed on the label; and
C. Affix the label to the B-pillar as shown.

If the vehicle already has a label from a previous Service Action/Recall Campaign, affix the new label next to the old one. Do not affix one label on
top of another one, because a number from an underlying label could appear in the punched-out hole of the new label.
